Leonas Restaurante is adjoining the Holy Shrine of Santuario de Nuestro Senor de Esquipulas, commonly called simply El Santuario.Leona's Restaurante It is shaded by a huge catalpa tree whose trunk grows through the roof of the restaurant.

The restaurant serves primarily take-out food, but there are several tables and benches, set among the ristras and memorabilia, where guests can relax and enjoy the warm hospitality and casual atmosphere that has made northern New Mexico one of the top tourist destinations in the country.

Inside you will find Leona, doing what she does best and doing it from her heart. She greets all visitors, she feeds the hungry, and she personally oversees preparations of the finest New Mexican cuisine that you are likely to ever encounter. Leona serving a customerIn addition to the tamales and tortillas that have made Leona's Restaurante famous, she serves may of the traditional favorites including carne adovada, hand-held burritos, posole, chile stew, frito pies, nachos and biscochitos.

For Leona the act of running a restaurant is entirely personal. It involves using the freshest ingredients, using the best of time-honored recipes and traditions, and most importantly, the love of making new friends and greeting old ones.

Leona's Restaurante is open daily from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM except on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
